Folks, it’s not often that I find myself agreeing with my Republican colleagues in the Senate. But yesterday, Senator Chuck Grassley said something that I just can’t argue with.
He said “If we want to reduce drug prices, then we need to do it now,” admitting that reducing the price of prescription drugs won’t happen if Republicans reclaim the majorities in Congress — and folks, he’s right.
Too many working families are struggling to afford essential medication, like insulin. That’s why I’m fighting my heart out to pass legislation that will lower costs and hold price-gouging drug companies accountable. Last month, I introduced the Affordable Insulin Now Act, which would cap the price of insulin at $35. Unfortunately, but not unsurprisingly, not a single Republican Senator has signed on to this critical legislation.
If we’re going to make the progress our working families are counting on, like reducing the price of prescription drugs, then we can’t let the gavel fall back into Mitch McConnell’s hands — we know it, and it seems like Senator Grassley knows it, too.
Protecting our fragile majority has never been more important. So if you can, please pitch in to help our campaign protect the Senate majority and elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will fight to lower costs for working families.
