Candidate filing here in Illinois ended this week, and John, it’s official: Six Republicans have jumped in Lauren’s race to try to flip this seat.

We have known for a while that our opponents are downright dangerous — the group includes a far-right radio talk show host, an anti-vax extremist, and a conspiracy theorist who continues to spread the lie that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. But some of these opponents are even more unhinged than we thought.

Just last weekend, Jack Lombardi (who isn’t even from our district) made headlines when his campaign called President Zelensky a “thug” on Twitter.

And remember James Marter? He was one of the several right-wing candidates who tried to flip Lauren’s seat in 2020. Well just recently, Marter touted an endorsement he received from a Congresswoman who quoted Hitler at a pro-Trump rally.

These candidates don’t reflect the values of our district, and it’s important that we keep this seat out of their hands. But rest assured that the attacks are coming, John, and we’ll need your help building the resources it’ll take to fight back.
