Hi there, John, I’m Alan.
You don’t know me, but you do know my neighbor, State Representative and candidate for Lieutenant Governor Brian Sims. While kindly neighbors have been known to lend a cup of sugar or a toolbox, Brian took a big risk two years ago and donated his kidney to me.
You read that right.
A few years ago I was in renal failure and my prognosis was grim. My husband John and I feared what was to come if I couldn’t find a match in time. We were lucky enough to run into a neighbor who wanted to help, and when Brian discovered he was a perfect match, he didn’t hesitate to make a decision that would change both of our lives and give me more time with my loved ones.
I’m writing to you now, two years post-surgery and healthier than ever. I wouldn’t be here without Brian’s generous and courageous spirit and support. I’m lucky to have experienced Brian’s values firsthand, and I’ve seen his empathy play out in his advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, in his travels across the Commonwealth meeting voters from all backgrounds, and in his continued fight in a tough race to change Pennsylvania for the better.
I’m proud to stand with Brian as he runs for Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania. My gratitude for Brian is unmeasurable, but I do hope to rally support for my friend. Add your name today if you support Brian and bringing empathy to the highest levels of government in Pennsylvania.
Alan
