Democrat,
This week, our party officially notified Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison and the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee that New Jersey would like to be considered as a potential new early Presidential primary state. With our state’s strong diversity of both people and geography, our strong Democratic values and our position as a critically important state for the midterm election, I believe that New Jersey offers what no other state can for this position.
You can read my full letter to Chairman Harrison here, and please stay tuned for more updates on this important initiative to help our party move forward with a modernized nominating process that lives up to our values.
GOVERNOR MURPHY UPDATE
Governor Murphy is continuing to build public support for the new ANCHOR property tax rebate program, penning an Op-Ed along with Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver and State Treasurer Liz Muoio on how the new initiative will make New Jersey more affordable for the middle class. Our Governor is showing his commitment to deliver much-needed tax relief, while also continuing to invest in our future by proposing more funding for public schools, expanded health coverage for children, more affordable college tuition and much more.
PRESIDENT BIDEN UPDATE
President Biden is continuing to stand up against facism by providing a new round of military aid to Ukraine to support the country in its struggle against the Russian invasion. This commitment of $800 million in arms and equipment will allow the brave men and women of Ukraine to continue their battle against Putin’s forces, while at the same time American-led economic sanctions deal serious damage to the Russian economy. President Biden’s resolute leadership is making a real difference in this tragic struggle for survival against Russian aggression.
-- Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.
P.S. – I would like to congratulate the Saint Peter’s University Men’s Basketball team on their incredible victory over Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Tournament! We’re Peacock Proud across New Jersey today, and we hope that Seton Hall will join them soon in the Round of 32!
