John,
It’s been a few weeks since the Texas primary, and as the time has passed the problems caused by Texas’s new voter suppression law, SB 1, have become clearer. For voters, elections workers, and candidates, SB 1’s provisions led to confusion on several fronts.
We saw voters unsure of which ID Number they used when they registered to vote ages ago, and elections workers who feared punishment because of the new restrictions decide not to work the polls despite having done so for years. Taken altogether, it’s clear that the Texas voter suppression law is working and we need the Senate to act so the election in November is not even worse than the primary.
That’s why we’re calling on the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act that will set national standards and protect the voting rights of all eligible Americans. Sign our petition today to join us. [[link removed]]

Help us restore faith in our democracy and ensure it is not radically different from state-to-state by demanding that the Senate passes voting rights legislation. [[link removed]]
