White House and Congress to Discontinue Funding for COVID Programs
On Tuesday, the White House announced that they will not pursue continuing funding for COVID-19 programs that help uninsured Americans get tested, vaccinated and treated against the virus. The original investment has helped millions of uninsured Americans receive treatment and protect themselves from the virus through testing and vaccinations. A $1.5 trillion spending bill originally had $15 billion allocated for more COVID funding but it had to be removed in order for the spending bill to be passed in Congress. Current funding of the COVID program is quickly running out so here's what is going to be discontinued:

The May Primary will be here before we know it! Getting engaged in #EveryElectionEveryTime is important for us to have a democracy on every level. Make sure you and everyone you know has a voting plan! The following deadlines are important for the 3 ways you can vote- in-person early voting, in-person voting on Election Day or vote by mail!
- Registration Deadline to vote in-person on May 17 is April 22!
- In-Person Early Voting starts on April 28 and ends on May 14. You can also same day register or update your voter registration during early voting.
-
The Absentee/Vote by Mail ballot request portal is open NOW! The NC State Board of Elections will start to send out absentee ballots on March 28. The last day to request an absentee ballot is on May 10, but we highly recommend requesting NOW and returning your ballot ASAP due to lengthy mail times. Vote by mail ballots have to be postmarked by May 17 in order to be counted.
- The Primary is on May 17 and polling places will be open from 6:30am to 7:30pm.

The Gender & Racial Pay Gap |
|
|
March 15 was deemed Equal Pay Day by the National Committee on Pay Equity back in 1996. To this day, for every dollar a white man makes: Asian American and Pacific Islander women make 75 cents Black women make 58 cents Indigenous women make 50 cents Latinx women make 49 cents
The gender and racial wealth gap are linked to slavery, segregation, redlining, unequal access to government programs, and systematic discrimination. The Biden Administration announced on Tuesday their initiative to close the gender pay gap.
You can read more of their plan HERE. But a bill called the Paycheck Fairness Act (HR-7) has yet to be passed or brought to the floor in Congress. Contact your representatives today to urge them to support the Paycheck Fairness Act.

Check Your Voter Registration |
We’re no stranger to voter suppression in our state. So we encourage you to check your voter registration often as board of elections offices purge voters from time to time. |

With your generosity, we are able to build a permanent infrastructure that will increase voter registration and turnout as well as take care of our communities of color, in and outside of election cycles. |
