Hi Friend,

My name is Bob Kitchen. I lead the IRC's response to emergencies. My team and I have been working around the clock since the recent escalation in violence in Ukraine began.

It's difficult to comprehend that we're only three weeks into this crisis. I wanted to personally reach out and brief you on what we are seeing on the ground — and ask if there is any way you can help. In an emergency like this one, any amount you can give will make an impact.

THE SITUATION: More than 3 million people have fled Ukraine, and an estimated 2 million more have been displaced within the country. Most of the refugees we are seeing are women and children, many of whom left home with only what they could carry.

Friend, it's been truly heartbreaking to watch this all unfold at such a rapid pace.

THE IRC'S RESPONSE SO FAR: The IRC has partnered with local organizations on the ground in Ukraine and neighboring countries to welcome refugees as they arrive and provide displaced families with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.

In Ukraine, we are supporting evacuation efforts and providing emergency assistance — like groceries, blankets, warm clothes and more — to families who have been forced to flee their homes.

In neighboring countries like Poland, we are supporting the provision of medical care, translation help, legal assistance and other important protection services to those who have made their way across the border.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: The IRC and local partners are working around the clock to meet the immediate needs of people fleeing violence in Ukraine. I'm asking you to rush an emergency donation right now (any amount will help) to help displaced families in Ukraine and other crisis zones:

This crisis is far from over, and displaced families will need support in both the short and long term to recover and rebuild their lives. Please, Friend, send in your urgent donation to help deliver life-changing aid in Ukraine and around the world.

Thank you,

Bob Kitchen
