I don’t mean to scare you with these headlines, but the takeaway is clear: We can’t wait to act on climate change .
A recent report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration found that our country will experience as much sea level rise by the year 2050 as it has experienced in the previous hundred years.
And according to a report by the U.N. Panel on Climate Change, the threats of climate change are developing so quickly that they may soon overtake our ability to address them if we don’t do something soon.
From rising seas and record droughts to historic storms, floods, and heatwaves, we’re already seeing climate change’s impact on our planet and it’s putting our cities, our coastlines, our farms -- our entire way of life -- in jeopardy.
But it’s not too late -- we can still do something to address the climate crisis.
We need to take transformational climate action and we need to do it soon. We need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and we need to make big investments in transitioning to a clean-energy economy.
That’s why it’s so important who’s in charge in Congress. We need leaders who are committed to acting on climate change now.
