We have just days to go before the country hears directly from Judge Jackson, and witnesses for themselves why she will be a remarkable justice. The country is ready for this historic process to begin!

This week, AFJ submitted a letter [[link removed]] in support of Judge Jackson to the Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC). We also finalized our in-depth profile of Judge Jackson’s record [[link removed]] with a look at added cases and expanded analysis of her background. See more developments below.

Pay Attention: Lower Court Judges Moving Closer

Importantly, while they prepare for the momentous SCOTUS hearings, the Senate acted on 12 lower court nominees. This includes Allison Nathan, nominee to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, who will be only the second openly lesbian woman to ever sit on a Court of Appeals. Leader Schumer, Chairman Durbin, and the entire Democratic Caucus are to be commended for continuing to confirm outstanding lower court judges, even while focusing on Judge Jackson’s historic confirmation and other critical domestic and foreign policy matters.

What’s Next? The Hearings Are Here

AFJ will closely monitor next week’s hearings and keep you up to date with daily highlights and key takeaways. We’re urging every member of the Committee to conduct fair and respectful hearings that will allow Judge Jackson’s consistent commitment to equal justice for all to shine. Stay tuned.
