Dear John,
Join Lillian's List on March 22 at 7PM for the Women Breaking Barriers Panel. Register for this free event today! We're excited to celebrate women who are blazing a trail in their posts and paving the way for many more diverse women to come!
We look forward to a keynote address from
former Chief Justice Cheri Beasley. Cheri was the first Black woman to serve as the Chief Justice of the NC Supreme Court and she continues to break barriers in her campaign to be the next US Senator from North Carolina. If elected, Cheri would be the first African American to represent North Carolina in the Senate! Currently, there are no Black women serving in the US Senate.
Register today! Our panel will be moderated by
Secretary of State Elaine Marshall! Elaine was the first women elected to statewide office in NC back in 1996. We could not think of a better woman to talk about breaking barriers.
In addition to hearing from Cheri, we will be joined by a panel of women who have shattered glass ceilings in their service all over North Carolina. Dimple Ajmera from the Charlotte City Council, Representative Vernetta Alston from Durham, Ya Liu from the Cary City Council, NC Democratic Party Chair and former Representative from Franklin & Nash Counties, Bobbie Richardson, will be joining us. We can’t wait to hear their reflections on service in elected office, the progress women have made, and work we still have to do to secure gender equity and reproductive freedom!
