John,
Aqua is buying up public water works all over Pennsylvania, and then
hiking up water bills by hundreds of dollars.
If we want to protect PA water from greedy corporations like Aqua, then we
need to get House Bill 527 passed ASAP. This bill would make it harder to
get approvals for public water works to be sold to private companies.
Last month, SumOfUs members sent hundreds of emails to their state reps
urging them to vote ‘yes’ on HB 527. And insiders tell us that we now have
enough votes to get the bill passed in the House.
The problem is that Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler and House Majority
Leader Kerry Benninghoff are refusing to bring the bill to a vote. So with
the next session starting in just three days, we’re going to turn up the
heat.
We’re going to make sure that HB 527 is the #1 priority this session by
putting it on the Speaker of the House and House Majority Leader’s
calendars. Will you send them a calendar invite reminding them to bring HB
527 to a vote?
It only takes two minutes, and if enough Pennsylvanians like you inundate
the House leaders’ calendars with invites and reminders on the first day
of the session, we might just force a vote.
Here’s the info you need to enter into your calendar invite:
* Title - “Bring HB 527 to a vote now!”
* Date - Monday, March 21st (choose any time you’d like)
* Guests -
