Forget everything you know about Florida politics, because the district maps just fundamentally changed.
My new seat (HD-69) is now the only district in the state held by a Democrat that voted for former President Trump in the 2020 election… So it’s going to be a fight!
Congresswoman Kathy Castor’s seat is now much redder than it was before. It was made so because she no longer represents just blue Tampa, but now overlaps much of my district in east Hillsborough.
Overall, there are now EIGHT seats held by Republicans that are bluer than my new seat, so we have lots of opportunities and paths towards righting this state… if we work hard and WIN.
But the national polling isn’t looking good. Midterm elections are historically bad for us, and Republicans are gunning for us to pick up this seat and give themselves a super majority in the state legislature.

I’m the only Democrat running for reelection in a district where Trump beat President Biden, so I’m going to need each and every one of you. Our seat is going to be harder to win than it was last year, when we won it by just 1%.
Thank you for believing in me and staying in the fight. Let’s go win!
