Welcome to the November issue of COPE Digest.
This month, Digest is focussed on the CORE Practice of Ethical Oversight. The case we discuss explores topics with respect to retrospective registration and an inconsistency between the trial registry record and the published paper.
November’s forum was on the topic of Artificial Intelligence in decision-making. A number of the questions and comments were directly and indirectly about the role of human agency and human intervention in AI in decision-making.

** ETHICS OF NON-ACTIVE MANAGEMENT OF A CONTROL GROUP
------------------------------------------------------------
The case discussion is just one example of ethical oversight, exploring the ethics of routine antenatal care in pregnant women with a systematic illness compared to active management of the illness in the intervention group.
In this case discussion Deborah Poff shares advice given by the COPE Forum and adds to the discussion with further analysis and links to relevant guidance.

NEW! RETRACTION GUIDELINES
Now updated, COPE's Retraction Guidelines give advice and guidance for editors: when should a retraction be considered, what to include in a notice, how quickly to issue a retraction, who should issue a retraction, and what to do when there is inconclusive evidence of a retraction.
