Poll findings on prevalence of coercive abortion cannot be ignored ()

In a shocking new finding, 15% of women in the UK (aged 18-44) say they have experienced pressure to go through with an abortion they didn’t want to have. The findings are contained in research conducted by Savanta ComRes for BBC Radio 4.

As reported earlier this week on RTÉ News, the Pro Life Campaign has accused the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly of “pandering to the pro-abortion lobby” by refusing to honour the promise the Government made to cease remote consultation ‘home abortions’ as soon as Covid restrictions were being lifted.

Remote consultation ‘home abortions’ increase the chances of women being coerced into having an abortion as it cuts out the face-to-face consultation between the woman and a medical doctor prior to the abortion. The HSE recognises this and conceded the following in reply to a recent parliamentary question on the issue: “Meeting the woman in person increases the likelihood of the provider identifying any coercion or domestic abuse”.

Despite all this, Stephen Donnelly still refuses to stop sanctioning the reckless practice of home abortions. His refusal to stand up to the pro-abortion lobby on this is not just enabling coercive abortions to happen, it is also putting the lives of pregnant women at risk since removing the obligation to have a face-to-face consultation with a doctor prior to an abortion means that the abortions pills are being dispensed notwithstanding the fact that the woman could have an.underlying medical condition that the doctor should be aware of before administering any pills.

Sophia Gavino’s wonderful witness helping women and sharing her story about abortion regret ()

Sophia Gavino ()

When she was just 15 years old, Sophia Gavino went to a Planned Parenthood clinic in California and had her unborn baby aborted. Today, she stands outside the same clinic to reach out to women who are feeling the same way she did the day she went for her abortion.

Sophia deeply regrets her abortion and struggled for years after it.

In an interview with Live Action she said: “Because the abortion hadn’t been done right, I needed to go back into the room again to complete the procedure. When I finally got home, I just wanted to be alone. I never stepped foot in that clinic again and I broke up with my boyfriend. Something in me died that day.”

She said: “I would cry a bit at times but then quickly pushed the pain deep inside.”

But after hearing her pastor talk about the pro-life issue some years back, she says it changed her life forever. She became involved in the pro-life movement and also sought to deal with the abortion she had and find healing.

Eventually, this led to her becoming involved in sidewalk counselling where she reaches out to women who are conflicted about going through with the abortion.

Her teenage son also trained as a sidewalk counsellor and together they regularly volunteer outside the Walnut Creek Planned Parenthood clinic where the life of her unborn baby was ended.

“Abortion is death and death is final. There is only hope in life,” she says.

Sophia’s sincere witness and the witness of so many other women who share their stories about abortion regret is unquestionably saving the lives of many babies who otherwise would have died through abortion.
Great result! House of Lords votes down pro-euthanasia amendment (http://)
[link removed]

The House of Lords yesterday voted against Lord Forsyth’s pro-euthanasia/assisted suicide amendment by 179 votes to 145. The amendment to the Health and Care Bill if passed would have forced the UK Government to draft a bill on euthanasia within a year and present it to parliament.

The result while close is nonetheless a decisive win for those opposed to the legalisation of euthanasia. It is a testament to the strength of the arguments being put forward and the resilience of those presenting them that repeated attempts in both the House of Lords and House of Commons to usher in euthanasia have failed.

Most media outlets in the UK are pushing hard at present for “dying with dignity” legislation. Based on carefully crafted opinion polls carried out by the same media groups, it appears as though the public in the UK is also overwhelmingly in favour of a change to the law.

Members of the House of Lords of course are not oblivious to the debate taking place outside their chamber but any fair minded observer would have to concede that both sides of the argument are given a much fairer and equitable airing in the houses of parliament than on the media airwaves.

Yesterday’s result is another reminder not to get disheartened by relentless media campaigns but instead we should be encouraged to keep going with our efforts and keep encouraging members of the medical profession and people with personal stories to step forward and have their say in this hugely important life and death debate. As has been said in the past and can be repeated again, this battle is far from over.

Save the Date for the Regional March For Life Events (#1)
We are delighted to announce that we’re organising a series of large regional events in May to shine a spotlight on Ireland’s abortion law and to demand that resouces are put in place to support and inform women about positive alternatives to abortion.

All three events (listed above) will have outstanding speakers, be family friendly and build momentum for change. A regional event will also take place in Dublin in September.

It wasn’t possible as we know to hold large public events over the past two years - the very time during which the new abortion law was taking hold. We must make up for this lost time.

It’s time to raise our voices loudly and clearly. The silence surrounding the devastating impact of Ireland’s abortion law has to end.

Please help ensure the Regional Marches in May are a huge success! Make every effort to be present and encourage family and friends to do likewise.

Save the dates for 20th, 21st and 22nd May. We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these regional gatherings, where we will stand united to deliver change.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming days and weeks!
