This is bad, John. Washington’s new lifesaving restrictions on deadly high-capacity magazines haven’t been signed into law yet, but our opponents are already fundraising to bring a barrage of legal challenges against the measure.

Our opponents are sowing fear and disinformation, pushing the false narrative that high-capacity magazines are necessary for self defense and that restrictions are unconstitutional. So let us set the record straight: First, high-capacity magazines are NOT necessary for self defense. The gun lobby itself has failed to identify a single case where a person was not able to defend themselves because of magazine size. And second, this measure is clearly constitutional. High-capacity magazine restrictions have been upheld by all seven federal appeals courts that have considered them.

The goal of this sale is to build up their already-deep war chest all while lining the gun industry’s pockets and making our communities less safe.
