Your voice is our most powerful asset [link removed]     GIVE NOW to Protect and
Strengthen Earned Benefits! [link removed]   DearJohn,  We are officially less than one year out from an election [link removed] that could determine whether your benefits are reduced or strengthened. As you and many other Americans know, Social Security and Medicare continue to be targeted by powerful forces in Washington. And our opponents see next year's election on November 3, 2020 as a tremendous opportunity to fundamentally change our nation's social insurance safety net — for the worse.

Of course, what many anti-Social Security and anti-Medicare lawmakers forget is that Social Security and Medicare are not "entitlements" — they are programs that you and every working American has paid into and earned during your working life. And between now and Election Day, the National Committee will be there in force, working to ensure your views are heard loud and clear by incumbent politicians and the candidates running for political office.
That&#39;s why the National Committee is counting on you to support our full-scale battle in Washington to protect and strengthen earned benefits and rein in the soaring cost of prescription drugs. With so much at stake in the year ahead, will you please chip in a gift of <strong><a alt="Click Here to Donate" href="[link removed]" id="action_donate" name="donate_now_dc" style="text-decoration: underline; color: #004D96; text-align: left;" title="Click Here to Donate" ><strong style="font-weight: bold;">$10 or $5</strong></a></strong> to ensure our grassroots advocacy efforts remain strong on your behalf?<strong> </strong><strong></strong>   <em>John, I also want to let you know that this month marks the National Committee&#39;s 37th anniversary!</em> Since our founding <a href="[link removed]" name="accomplishments" style="text-decoration: underline; color: #004D96; text-align: left;" target="_blank" title="Click Here to Learn More" ><strong style="font-weight: bold;"><u style="text-decoration: underline; color: #004D96; text-align: left;">we&#39;ve successfully defeated many benefit cuts proposals,</u></strong></a> including helping stop former President George W. Bush&#39;s privatization scheme, which would have turned over control of your Social Security benefits to Wall Street. We&#39;ve also stopped numerous legislative attempts to privatize Medicare and adopt a stingier Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) formula for beneficiaries.
Our team of highly experienced policy analysts meets regularly with members of Congress and their staffs to present the National Committee's positions and make recommendations regarding current legislative proposals. But by far the National Committee's most powerful asset is the clear voice of our members and supporters. Your views and support — expressed through Capitol Hill events, petitions, emails, phone calls, personal letters and our active social media communities — have long made a crucial difference in the outcome of legislation on Capitol Hill. And so to ensure our retirement and health security remain strong for decades to come, I'm counting on your help today! [link removed]
        Sincerely, Max Richtman
