MPI Is Out with Update to its One-Stop Resource for Stats on Immigration and Immigrants in the United States
WASHINGTON — The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) today published the latest version of its popular resource Frequently Requested Statistics on Immigrants and Immigration in the United States. The article offers a wealth of statistics on the U.S. immigrant population, immigration levels and enforcement.
The article from MPI’s online magazine, the Migration Information Source, seeks to answer the most commonly asked questions on immigration, using data from agencies including the U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Homeland Security and State Department.
It puts current trends into historical context to showcase how recent patterns compare to the past and what is driving changes. Among the topics it covers are the changing size and makeup of the U.S. immigrant population, including immigrants’ top origin countries, share of the overall U.S. population and socio-demographic information such as workforce participation, income and educational attainment. The article also offers information about naturalized citizens, refugees, green-card holders, temporary visitors and other foreign nationals in the United States. And it compiles data on enforcement actions, visa backlogs and other government activities.
In addition to this resource, MPI also recently updated the interactive tools on its Migration Data Hub. Using these resources, visitors can trace trends over time in more detail.
