Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just signed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill into law, which prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity and would be detrimental to the education and expression of LGBTQ+ youth. If we allow QAnon supporter and insurrectionist Dan Cox to become the next Governor of Maryland, he could do the same thing and worse. Cox is a former member of an anti-LGBTQ+ hate group, and in 2017 he represented a client in a lawsuit against Frederick County Public Schools, challenging their policy to allow students to use whatever bathroom affirms their gender identity. And, friend, a recent poll shows that he is the top Republican choice for governor. We cannot allow a wannabe Ron DeSantis to be elected as our state's leader. John King is the only Democrat with the leadership experience and broad coalition support to defeat him in November, but he needs our full support today to fuel him there.
