I've dedicated my life to public service – as a public defender and judge, and later as the first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. I've seen firsthand how the laws made in Washington too often fail working people.

That's why I'm running for North Carolina's open Senate seat, and if we win, I’ll be the first African American senator my home state has ever elected – and just the third African American woman to ever serve in the U.S. Senate. It won't be easy, but this is our chance to make history and give North Carolinians a fighter they deserve. And I know we can win.

The latest polling shows me in a statistical TIE with my Republican opponents, and CNN ranks North Carolina as one of the most likely Senate seats to flip blue. But that's exactly why the GOP is pouring millions into this race to defeat me – and I need your help.
