John,
Recently, ABC Montana broke incredibly troubling news that someone in Columbia Falls, MT had been neglecting their horses — essentially starving them for God knows how long, potentially even leading one of the horses to its death. Luckily, animal control seized those 17 horses from that ranch, and they are now being nursed back to full health.
But there’s an even more concerning twist. The person who was rightfully arrested and charged with animal cruelty happens to be a far-right conspiracy theorist, who has been pushing Trump’s “Big Lie” — and recently moved to Montana from California.
But that wasn’t an issue for Tom. When he heard about this tragedy, he immediately knew he had to step up and make sure the horses had everything they needed. Because one of the values that we share, and one that makes someone a true Montanan is helping out our neighbors — regardless of their politics.
Tom loaded up his pickup with hay, and with the help of his friend Rep. Barbara Bessette and others, were able to donate a few meals to these beautiful horses in need.
Because for Tom, positive outcomes for our community are far more important than ideology. He knew that he couldn’t let these horses suffer. Some folks (on both sides of the aisle, unfortunately) would have undoubtedly used this as an opportunity to create another senseless, partisan fight.
This isn’t a normal thing for a Congressional campaign to do. So we want to know what you would have done if you were in Tom’s shoes. We want to confirm that Tom’s supporters agree with him and have his back, so we’re asking you to take our one question Flash Poll right now:
What Would You Do: Flash Poll
(Please Select One Option)
"I believe it's more important to make sure out neighbors
are taken care of. I would have fed the horses."
"I believe it's more important to score political points,
even if someone gets hurt. I would not have fed the horses."
|
Thank you for taking our Flash Poll and for being a part of this grassroots campaign for change. We are honored to be building a network of supporters who care about returning our politics to a place that’s free from corrupt, partisan forces aiming to unravel the very fabric of our democracy.
That’s exactly what Tom’s goal was when he decided to run for office. He made a promise to build a campaign focused on real people and real issues facing our communities. He has never been about chasing TV cameras or catering to millionaire donors. He’s always committed to advocating for working Montanans regardless of who is watching — because that’s who Tom is at his core.
Thanks again,
— Team Winter
P.S. If you’re interested in helping the horses in need too, you can email [email protected]. Or, if you want to take action in your own community, we encourage you to donate or volunteer at your local animal shelter.
P.P.S. Of course, Tom had to bring Gary with him when he donated the hay to these horses. Here’s Gary helping Tom unload his truck at the donation center:
