An organizer for more than 20 years, Ana Maria has fought for the rights of tenants, workers, immigrants, women, and the LGBTQ community. She’s served as the Co-Executive Director of Make the Road New York and of the Center for Popular Democracy- one of the largest networks of community organizations in the country. She is a principled, kind, courageous leader that has never backed down from a fight.

This is a race she can win. Her main opponent, Brian Benjamin, is weak and beatable. He’s been tarnished by scandal and his close ties to Wall Street. Meanwhile, Ana María is entering this race with thoughtful plans and a clear vision for how she will turn Lieutenant Governor into a statewide office with real teeth and relevance for our communities. She’s ready, willing, and able to hold Governor Kathy Hochul accountable and stand up for the needs of New Yorkers hit hardest by the COVID crisis.
