John,

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick endured both rejection and persecution to bring the Gospel to a pagan land...but God used his faithfulness to convert an entire country.

While St. Patrick lived 1,600 years ago, his mission isn't all that different from ours. Our Lord's command to "make disciples of all nations" still applies.

We can look to St. Patrick for inspiration as we strive to bring the Gospel of Life to our post-Christian society. As the Western world runs away from God, we are called to evangelize through our pro-life prayer and witness.

On this week's episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we encourage you to forget the green beer this St. Patrick's Day and, instead, take a look at the life and mission of St. Patrick--and what it all means for pro-lifers 16 centuries later:

Granite City, Illinois

40 Days for Life Director of Medical Affairs & Education Dr. Haywood Robinson visited the faithful prayer warriors of Granite City, Illinois on a blustery late-winter day.

The vigil is held in front of the mis-named Hope Clinic--a late-term abortion facility that's been in business for more than 45 years. Campaign volunteers refer to the facility as "Hopeless Clinic."

But those participants are bringing hope to the otherwise hopeless place. Not long after Dr. Robinson's visit, a deacon had the opportunity to bless an expectant mother who chose life!

Dr. Robinson said the campaign volunteers are committed for the long haul and described them as "a very faithful group."

Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Michael is leading the first 40 Days for Life campaign in Glenwood Springs and he too has had to deal with frigid winter weather--in the mountains, no less!

But the community has rallied behind him. A kind resident stops by the vigil daily with coffee, prayers, encouragement--and even lunch! And a local college student contributed a $50 gift card to the campaign.

One of Planned Parenthood's vendors told Michael, "I am against abortion. I'm with you guys. My church prays at this Planned Parenthood regularly."

Michael has appeared on the local public radio station, and the local newspaper published a stirring opinion column he wrote inviting community members to join his vigil.

"All is good," Michael declared of his first campaign.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

—Matthew 11:28

Father, hear our prayer! Snatch desperate mothers from the fire. Bring them out of our abortion businesses and into our pregnancy help centers. Deliver them from evil. Use us to help them choose life and see your hand of provision.
