Biden Details Aid to Ukraine
President Biden announced on Wednesday an additional $800 million in security aid to help Ukraine fight Russia’s grinding invasion, hours after President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine made an impassioned appeal for help to Congress that cast the war as a battle for the cause of democracy, as the NYT reports.

Cautious Optimism
Officials from Russia and Ukraine expressed cautious optimism Wednesday that peace talks were making progress toward ending almost three weeks of fighting across Ukraine and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday that there is “hope for reaching a compromise,” as the Washington Post reports.

Fed Raises Interest Rates
Fed officials said Wednesday they would raise their benchmark federal-funds rate for the first time since 2018 by a quarter percentage point to a range between 0.25% and 0.5% from near zero, as the WSJ reports.
