We can't drill our way out of rising energy costs and gas prices? ? ? ? Tell Congress: The time to invest in renewable energy is NOW!
?Big Oil and their allies in Congress are using the tragic assault on Ukraine and the invasion?s subsequent shocks to the global energy market to line their own pockets, while families shoulder the cost of rising gas prices.?
We need to make it clear to our representatives: we can?t drill our way out of this problem, and we must transition to a clean energy economy now.
We've set a goal of 5,000 LCV members telling Congress today: the only long-term solution to high, unreliable energy costs is investing in clean, renewable energy.?Will you take action now? [link removed]
TAKE ACTION [link removed] ? ? ? Dear Friend,
Time and time again, Big Oil and corporate polluters have looked for every opportunity to increase their profits, and now, they are using the Ukraine humanitarian crisis to ?advocate? for more drilling and to spew lies that this will lower the cost of gas at the pump. More drilling at home - opening up more of our public lands and waters - does nothing to lower prices but everything to add to the profits of Big Oil.
More domestic drilling will only harm our irreplaceable public lands and waters, and increased pollution will have devastating health impacts on nearby communities while worsening our long-term climate outlook.
The current crisis shows even more clearly how vital it is that the U.S. break our dependence on dirty, dangerous and unreliable fossil fuels and invest in a sustainable future. Now is the time for ending our addiction to fossil fuels through transformative investments in clean energy, jobs, and environmental justice.
Will you be one of the 5,000 LCV members we need to tell Congress today to invest in clean, renewable energy now? [link removed]
Moving to a clean energy economy will provide greater economic stability, lower energy costs, and protect our national and climate security? all while creating a safer, healthier future for this generation and the next.?
Fossil fuels are connected to a global market influenced by worldwide supply, demand, and unpredictable events. A few new leases and permits in the U.S won?t let us drill our way out of high gas prices.
It?s a lie to make oil executives richer. One that will increase climate pollution and put communities in harm?s way, especially Indigenous communities and low-wealth communities of color who disproportionately live near oil and gas extraction sites.
Act now. Tell Congress to meet the moment on climate change and insulate the U.S. from future volatile fossil fuel prices by swiftly passing investments in clean energy, jobs, and environmental justice into law.? [link removed]?
Thank you for not letting corporate polluters exploit this devastating humanitarian crisis and for speaking out now to protect our climate and our communities.
