Friend,
We won!
After public outcry and a campaign by the American Postal Workers Union & allied unions, the Postal Service Reform Act passed! Thank you for pushing to save our USPS.
Congress also just passed a legislative package to fund the federal government in the next fiscal year, which was signed into law this weekend. The bill will provide much-needed resources for our communities.
If you were among the thousands of members of our email community who signed a petition recently to invest in the IRS, thank you! More funding has been secured so the Internal Revenue Service can staff up, more effectively serving U.S. taxpayers and ensuring greedy corporations and the richest 1% pay what they owe taxes.
I’m particularly proud to have secured more than $15.3 million in the budget bill for important local community projects.
My team and I worked extremely hard for nearly a year in partnership with grassroots organizations, nonprofits, and municipalities in our district to secure this funding to respond directly to some of the most pressing needs in our district. It will have a profound impact on the Wayne County communities I represent.
The funding invests in organizations like the Ruth Ellis Center, to help provide safe, affordable, identity-affirming housing for marginalized Black and brown people, especially LGBTQ+ youth.
Other projects involve building community spaces such as a Senior Wellness Center and a community wellness hub, empowering young people, providing energy efficient home repairs, supporting small business development, and deploying high-speed broadband.
In total, this funding will go toward 10 projects that benefit underserved communities in need of this kind of direct investment.
I’m fighting to ensure our government centers and invests in people most in need.
Will you support our fight for the people by chipping in what you can today?
