Earlier this morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave a virtual address to Congress. It was a historic and incredibly moving moment as President Zelensky spoke about the Russian invasion of his country.

As Russian forces encircle Ukrainian cities, target civilian structures, and leave a trail of bloodshed in their wake, Putin’s brutality and destruction must be confronted and defeated for the sake of global peace.

While I remain steadfast in my commitment to avoid an American military intervention, supporting the Ukrainian people impacted by Russia’s invasion remains paramount — from helping refugees resettle to providing humanitarian relief, and more.

This team has already stepped up to raise more than $27,000 for the International Rescue Committee of Northern California — a local branch of an organization working to assist Ukrainian refugees fleeing the conflict in their home country. And now, I’m reaching out to ask you to support this organization once again.

We can’t turn away from what’s happening in Ukraine. I’m empowered to do my part as a member of Congress to support refugees and approve humanitarian aid.
