State Rep. Tillman thinks the maps "belong" to the prevailing party and not the voters. Donate to our mid-month goal if you think this rhetoric is unacceptable.

Friend -- November has been a crucial month in the fight for fair maps. Our focus on North Carolina proves that individualized, state-based strategies are needed to end gerrymandering.

The fight to end gerrymandering is gaining momentum -- but the road to fair maps is long and some map manipulators are more committed to their shady tactics than ever before. We need to build the infrastructure in states NOW to be prepared for the fight ahead. Can you help us reach our mid-month goal of $25,000?

When politicians in North Carolina drew a map that gave Republicans an unfair advantage at the expense of voters, our grassroots team fought back.

During the final vote, Republican State Senator Jerry Tillman commented on the map-drawing process: "If it belongs to the prevailing party, do you think it should be anything other than partisan? It's set up to be partisan. Do you think we're going to draw Democrat maps?"

The maps don't "belong" to the majority party. This isn't about drawing maps for Democrats or maps for Republicans. It's about drawing maps for the voters.

This kind of rhetoric -- and disregard for voters -- is what we're up against. Party extremists aren't even trying to hide their intention to rig maps in their favor.

Our mid-month goal of $25,000 will prepare us for the fight ahead. Donate $5 to join this effort.

Thanks for supporting this movement.
