Friend,
Our hard work is paying off.
After a hard-fought push and months of negotiations, President Biden signed the $1.5 trillion omnibus spending package into law, which approves over $180 million in federal funding for community-focused violence intervention strategies to serve communities suffering from high concentrations of violence.
Strong communities reduce violence, not just policing. This historic funding provides resources to strengthen communities and invest in life-saving community-led and public health focused violence intervention strategies by providing: -
$50 million for a new Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative
- $52 million to address the rise of adverse childhood experiences due to the pandemic and community violence through the Administration for Children and Families
-
$12.5 million to help communities address the impacts and root causes of community violence through Project Aware, Mental Health Program
- $7 million to increase youth access to trauma support and mental health services in partnership with community organizations through Project Aware, Mental Health Program
-
More than $60 million for community violence intervention programs through approved Congressional earmarks for community funding projects
This is a historic stride towards ending violence in our communities, but with violence rising across the country, we know that is a small investment to address the leading cause of death in our community. Will you donate to help us continue this fight? |
Our efforts are working, but we couldn’t have made it this far without you. Thank you for your commitment to end gun violence.
