NEWS FROM THE 15th DISTRICT

Higher education has increasingly become more expensive through the years, leaving over 70% of graduates in debt. Many graduates spend their post-graduate lives struggling to balance financial independence with burdensome loans.  

The fact is that the student loan crisis is growing starker—currently the total student debt balance is a staggering $1.7 trillion in outstanding payments—almost doubling in the last decade. This debt stunts economic growth and closes off opportunities for graduates entering a workforce already impacted by decades of stagnated wages. Student loan debt leaves many Americans unable to buy a house, raise a family, and much more.  

This is why I introduced H.R. 6708, Student Loan Relief Act, legislation that would forgive $25,000 in public student loan debt for all borrowers.
