Help is available for those struggling with energy bills
This week, I was shocked when I opened my energy bill to see how much the prices have already increased. I know the rising costs of bills will be a worry for many residents of the city, so I want to reassure you that support is available for those who need it.
In Nottingham, we have been taking action against fuel poverty for many years and investing in domestic energy efficiency improvements to help residents heat and power their homes for less.
Throughout the city, we?ve been installing measures such as solar panels and insulation on homes for free. The Government-funded Local Authority Delivery scheme is open for applications, and homeowners who have a household income of less than ?30,000 per year and live in a home that?s hard to keep warm can apply. To find out more about making energy efficiency improvements to your home, contact the team on 0115 6667 298 or
[email protected].
You can also get assistance with paying your energy bills through a variety of means. To find the support that?s on offer, visit the Ask Lion page here [ [link removed] ]. Advice is also available from local charity partners Nottingham Energy Partnership [ [link removed] ],?Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Age UK [ [link removed] ], and?Energy Saving Trust [ [link removed] ], so visit their websites to see how they can help you.

Get involved in the city?s journey to carbon neutrality
Becoming a carbon neutral city will impact everyone in Nottingham, so we?re committed to including the opinions of as many people as possible to help us shape our plan. There are currently several ways you can get involved.
The first is by attending a 1.5-hour focus group that we?re running with the help of Nottingham Trent University. In these online sessions, you?ll be invited to share your views on Nottingham and climate change. It doesn?t matter how involved you?ve been in climate action work in the past, anything you care about is interesting to us. There are a few slots available for the sessions which run until the end of March, so book your place now [ [link removed] ].
You can also send us your ideas for making Nottingham a more sustainable city using our online Nottingham Climate Action Map [ [link removed] ]. Leaving a suggestion just takes a few minutes, so tell us the changes you?d like to see in your community to help fight climate change.
The county-wide Notts Green Rewards app is a great way to track the difference you?re making in your everyday life. It has a range of activities and tips that you can try to live a greener lifestyle. By using the app to report your actions, you can even win prizes every month. Sign up for free [ [link removed] ] and start earning your Green Points.

More Nottingham homes become super energy efficient
More Nottingham homes become super energy efficient
A project to make council homes in Sneinton super energy saving has been completed.
12 formerly hard-to-heat council homes ? five houses and seven bungalows - on Keswick Street in Sneinton have been transformed into ultra-low energy homes using the ground-breaking Energiesprong approach.
The improvements to homes include new:
* Energy-efficient heating and hot water systems
* Super-insulated wall panels
* Doors and windows
* Super-insulated roof structures on the bungalows
* The installation of solar panels.
The Energiesprong approach has been proved to be a highly effective way of tackling old and cold council housing. Older housing can account for a large proportion of carbon emissions, so projects such as this help towards Nottingham?s ambitions to become a carbon neutral city by 2028.
The works have been delivered by Nottingham City Homes and Melius Homes, and the project recently won Best Large Retrofit Project of the Year at the UK Retrofit Academy Awards. Find out more about the project [ [link removed] ]

Celebrating St Patrick?s Day in Nottingham
Celebrating St Patrick?s Day in Nottingham
I?m delighted that Nottingham's St Patrick?s Day Festival will return to the city centre after a two-year gap, celebrating our region?s vibrant Irish community and descendants. Head to Old Market Square to enjoy a range of Irish and Irish-inspired live music and culture on stage including the John McNicholl Band, plus try some traditional Irish Stew and soda bread.
The Council House will also be lit green on the evening on 17 March
