Violence against Asian Americans is still on the rise, and Asian American women are particularly at risk.
Friends,
One year ago, a terrible act of targeted gun violence took the lives of eight people at spas in the Atlanta area.
Six of these eight people were of Asian descent — and this horrific crime is just one example of the larger epidemic of targeted violence against Asian Americans across the country.
Violence against Asian Americans is still on the rise, and Asian American women are particularly at risk.
A recent survey by the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) found that 74% of AAPI women experienced racism or discrimination in the past year. And 51% of respondents said that they feel less safe now than they did at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
