Haynes Endorsed as Episcopal Candidate
The Missouri Conference General and Jurisdictional Delegation voted to endorse Rev. Sally Haynes for the office of bishop in the South Central Jurisdiction in 2020. The vote took place at the delegation meeting at the Missouri Conference Center in Columbia on Saturday, November 16.
Haynes is a graduate of A.B. Davidson College, and has a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Saint Paul School of Theology. She is currently pastor at Central UMC in Kansas City, and has previously served as pastor at First UMC Blue Springs, First UMC Warrensburg, Trinity UMC (Kansas City), Epworth-Roanoke UMC (Kansas City), Belvidere UMC (Grandview), and served as associate pastor of Trinity UMC and chaplain at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit. She has been a member of the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women and served as chair of the Order of Elders for the Missouri Conference.
The South Central Jurisdiction includes 12 annual conferences and one missionary conference that span eight states: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The jurisdiction contains 10 episcopal areas. The episcopal election will be July 15 - 18 in Woodland, Texas.
