Young gibbon resting with its mother on a tree branch

John,

One of Malaysia’s largest timber and palm oil corporations is deforesting huge swathes of rainforest in Borneo without consent, decimating endangered gibbon, clouded leopard and pangolin habitats.

When a local, four-person NGO helped expose the destruction, the timber giant slapped them with a $1.8 million lawsuit to silence them!

We know it won’t end there. The family that owns this company is worth over $400 million – and they can afford to hire high priced lawyers to legally bully these forest defenders.

But if enough of us chip in, we can give this small but mighty NGO the money they need to fight back in court and win. Their next legal deadline is fast approaching and they need an influx of cash – can you chip in?

This timber giant doesn’t even need to win this case in court to win.

It just needs to bankrupt the SAVE Rivers NGO with an expensive lawsuit to shut down the campaign, or keep the case dragging on indefinitely to silence dissent. Either tactic will allow it to continue its unethical logging operations.

But letting that happen would set a dangerous precedent against environmental activists and local land rights -- and peoples' homes and endangered animals' habitats will continue to be wiped out by huge logging companies and palm oil plantations.

That’s why we need your help. Lawsuits like this are crucial in our fight to protect people and the planet from corporate greed. Together we can give SAVE Rivers a fighting chance to beat this lawsuit and set new legal precedent that protects activists against this type of corporate bullying.

Can you chip in to help these forest defenders fight back – and save this rainforest?

Thanks for all that you do,
