Team, you know how much I love good beer, good food, and a great story.

That's why, last week, I was so happy to visit the Phantom Canyon Brewing Company in Colorado Springs. In the case of the Phantom, it was also a walk down memory lane--and a reminder of what folks can achieve by working together.

Not too long after we got the Wynkoop Brewing Company going in 1988--a labor of love that involved renovating the century-old J.S. Brown Mercantile Building in downtown Denver--I got an invitation to look at another beautiful old building down in the Springs.

That building was the Old Cheyenne Hotel. It happened to be the only registered historical landmark in town. And it was scheduled for demolition.

I just couldn't see the Cheyenne meet that fate, so with a vision similar to what we'd achieved in Denver with the Wynkoop, I bought the building from the bank.

But we couldn't raise the full funding we needed from investors alone. So the subcontractors who worked on the project--the electrician, the plumber, the sprinkler installer, and more--pooled $150,000 to put into the project, and we became partners.

That's how we built Phantom Canyon Brewing Company nearly three decades ago. Just last Tuesday, I stopped by.

I love the story of the Wynkoop, but in a way, the story of the Phantom is an even better representation of what I want this campaign to be about.

Today, I'm asking you to be our partners in transforming Colorado--not just some of it, for some of us in certain areas, but the entire state, for all of us. That work takes people from all walks of life pitching in to do their part.
