John,

Several times throughout my 20-year Naval career, I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

When I assumed office in 2018, I took that same oath again as a Congresswoman. I take my oath seriously, and I’ll never back down when it comes to defending our democracy.

And while many of my Republican colleagues are trying to cover up what happened last winter, calling it “legitimate political discourse,” I’m not afraid to call it what it truly was:

A dangerous and violent attack on our nation’s Capitol, perpetuated by American extremists who were emboldened by Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

The members of Congress who incited this do not deserve to represent their fellow Americans – and now, Republicans are attacking me for having the guts to defend our democracy.

I’m running in the most competitive House district in the country. Republicans are capitalizing on that fact by bombarding our campaign with attack ads so they can replace me with a Trump-loyalist who will tow their party line.

Will you chip in $25 or more towards my FEC end-of-quarter fundraising goal so I can protect my seat AND our House majority from Republicans who peddle Trump’s “Big Lie”?

We cannot allow those who seek to destroy our country from within to prevail. We need representatives and leaders who will uphold our laws and institutions, not side with those who try to tear them down.

Thank you,
Elaine
