John -- I wanted to give you a campaign update from the road. We’ve been having a great time visiting folks living in towns of 1,000 people or less to remind them that their voice matters. By the end of today, we’ll have hosted town halls in 23 counties (!!!) in the 4th district. Take a look at the photos below, and if you can, please chip in $5 or more to help us defeat Steve King by building a grassroots campaign all across Iowa's 4th district. I started the month at Iowa’s legendary presidential event -- the Liberty and Justice Dinner. It was great to hear how the presidential candidates are going to work for the people of Iowa. A personal highlight was even getting a crowd to chant “America needs farmers, farmers need antitrust.” Take a listen. We travelled to Wellsburg (pop. 693), where I heard from folks about the need for affordable child care and quality education. I love seeing families and kids out on the road -- everyone has a stake in this fight, especially our future generations. In Ellsworth (pop. 506), we talked about the devastating effects of special interests in politics and how we need to make sure our rural communities have access to hospitals, broadband, schools, grocery stores, and more. Snowy weather did not stop people from turning out in Battle Creek (pop. 690), where people opened up about the skyrocketing costs of life-saving prescriptions and procedures. It’s heartbreaking that so many people have to make choices about their health based on their bank account. That’s why I travel to these towns. It was fitting that I was wearing one of my favorite RayGun shirts, America Needs Teachers, when I went to Rolfe (pop. 549). We had teachers and teachers’ aides in the audience -- they are vital to our community, and we have to make sure they have the resources and support they need to succeed so that our children thrive. I love visiting these communities -- but I need your help to make sure we can stay on the road. Pitch in $5 or more today so we can visit more communities across Iowa’s 4th district. Thanks for your support. Hope to see you on the road soon. Standing Tall for All, J.D. Scholten |
