John,

SEEC members are taking further initiative in tackling the climate crisis by launching a new task force – their fourth of this year!

Led by SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Doris Matsui and SEEC member Rep. Joe Neguse, the Nature and Oceans Task Force will focus on finding natural climate solutions and restoring our oceans and public lands.

This is the latest effort to find creative and common-ground ways to advance climate legislation in the House. Nature-based climate solutions are a crucial means to fight back against the threat of climate change. For decades, “to modernize” has meant paving over nature with little regard for the existing ecosystem. But more enlightened thinking has demonstrated that we can work in tandem with nature to stave off the effects of climate change by reducing pollution and increasing the resiliency of our communities.

The Nature and Oceans Task Force will work on these nature-based climate solutions to protect our clean air and water as well as our homes and businesses. Their solutions will ultimately become a critical component to the Biden administration’s goal for conserving 30% of U.S. lands and waters before the next decade.

SEEC members are working every day to take a full-systems approach to critical climate and clean energy policies. With the IPCC’s dire warning about climate change’s impending ramp-up, restoring our oceans and public lands will be central to developing comprehensive climate change solutions.

John, SEEC members have stepped up to lead this task force because they know this is why they were sent to Congress. We need to ensure that we secure the reelection of every SEEC member in the House this November. Will you pitch in with a donation right away to show your support and help keep them in Congress? Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
