,
Moments before a Texas court order was scheduled to go into effect on Friday night, the Biden administration announced it would no longer expel unaccompanied children seeking protection under its inhumane Title 42 expulsion order. Though this is an important step in the right direction, it is not enough.
Seeking asylum is a fundamental legal and human right that should be afforded to everyone, and that’s why the Biden administration must immediately terminate Title 42 expulsions for all migrants. For months, we have been urging the administration to end this unlawful and cruel policy. But, , we cannot succeed without your help.
Justice for our most vulnerable populations has been delayed long enough. Join us in urging the Biden administration to swiftly bring an end to Title 42 expulsions today >>>
Under the guise of public health, Title 42 has denied asylum access to migrants over 1.6 million times, sending them back to dangerous areas where they could face torture, kidnapping, or even death. Top leaders in Congress and health experts agree: this xenophobic Trump order kept in place by the Biden administration has put asylum seekers in harm’s way for far too long. Now is the time to fully repeal the Title 42 expulsion order.
The United States has a legal and moral responsibility to provide safety to those fleeing dangerous conditions. We must value the humanity and dignity of all people, and it is our duty to ensure protections guaranteed under our laws are carried out.
Unaccompanied children are only a portion of the population in desperate need of asylum. In order to fulfill our legal and moral obligations, the Biden administration must end this cruel policy for everyone.
If you agree, please join us in urging the Biden administration to fully end Title 42 expulsions once and for all and restart asylum, including at ports of entry >>>
Thank you for standing with us on this important issue.
Sincerely,
