Hi Friend,
Every year, we write to you on Equal Pay Day -- the day that marks how far into the new year women have had to work to earn as much as men did in the year before.
Today is the earliest we’ve ever recognized Equal Pay Day. Why? Because you and I have spoken out on this issue every single year. We’ve said enough is enough.
We’ve taken action to change the systems and structures that foster the pay discrimination that robs women and their families. While on average women will have to work 74 additional days to earn what a white man did in 2021, this is an incomplete picture.
Pay disparities are even more alarming for women of color and women with disabilities. For every dollar a white man earns, a Black woman earns $0.64, and a Latina earns $0.57.
Friend, this is unacceptable. Women deserve equal pay for equal work. Period.
We’re all better off when everyone has a fair shot to get ahead. That’s why we can’t stop fighting for what we deserve. For what’s fair. Will you chip in $7 right now to help us elect Democratic leaders who are fighting for working women and their families?
Please consider making this a monthly contribution. If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
The earlier Equal Pay Day arrives each year, the closer we are to achieving pay equity for millions of women. We can’t stop fighting until Equal Pay Day isn’t necessary at all because all workers are treated equally.
Let’s keep fighting,
Rose Clouston
