John,
Today is Equal Pay Day — the symbolic date signifying when American women catch up to men’s earnings from the previous year. The average woman has to work an extra 74 days to earn what the average man made in 2021.
Though Roy’s administration is prioritizing pay equity and has taken steps to achieve it, currently, North Carolina does not have an equal pay law.
If you would support legislation requiring equal pay for equal work, take just a moment to add your name to our petition today >>>
In North Carolina, women earn just 85 cents compared to a dollar for men on average. That gap is even larger for mothers and women of color.
North Carolina has a smaller gender pay gap than the national average of 82 cents to a dollar, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do more to ensure women receive equal pay for equal work.
Without economic equality, women, families, and our communities suffer.
Please, sign our petition now to support an equal pay law for our state >>>
