Dear John,
Today, Vladimir Putin continues to unleash the massive Russian military on innocents in Ukraine -- including last week an aerial bombing of a maternity hospital. The brutal tyrant has been emboldened by perceived weakness of President Biden's administration on the world stage ... including with Russia's ally, communist China.
Just weeks ago, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics came and went. Television ratings tanked as the consciences of many worldwidewere awakened to grave atrocities being committed in communist China.
Only a few hours' plane ride away from the world's greatest sports spectacle, the Chinese Communist Party was (and still is!) hiding the biggest torture network of the modern age.
More than a million people are being detained in internment camps, experiencing torture, rape, medical experimentation, and forced labor ... all because of their beliefs and ethnicity.
In advance of this year's games, FRC joined 242 other human rights groups in petitioning the International Olympic Committee to diplomatically boycott the Olympics.
We laid out the facts: that the Uyghurs, an ethnic minority group, have been systematically imprisoned in western China. Chinese authorities torture the imprisoned, separate families, and have killed untold numbers.
That's the backdrop for the recent Olympics: genocide in the world's most populous nation.
As one of the nation's leading freedom advocates, FRC has been relentless in our efforts to speak and act boldly on behalf of those persecuted. The rise of religion-based persecution and human rights abuses abroad demand a response.

During the lead-up to the Olympics in Beijing, we saw the two-faced nature of the NBA, Big Business, and Big Tech exposed.
In an interview, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban admitted that he's silent on Chinese atrocities due to profits. "I'm okay with doing business with China," he said. "We have to pick our battles. I wish we could solve all the world's problems, but we can't."
Similarly, Chamath Palihapitiya, part-owner of the NBA's Golden State Warriors, argued with his podcast co-host about the genocide. "Nobody cares about what's happening to the Uyghurs, okay?" When his friend responded in surprise, the billionaire doubled down, "I'm just telling you ... a very hard, ugly truth. Of all the things I care about, yes, it is below my line."
Total ignorance of these issues is one thing. But when the elites know basic human rights are being discarded and atrocities are being committed, and they still don't care? Then we know that dollars matter more than lives to them.
And we cannot be silent.
FRC is unique among public policy organizations in that we are grounded in Christian faith. Our beliefs cause us to care about all persecuted men, women, and children -- certainly Christians, but also any person who is facing unjust and violent treatment simply for their faith.
The shedding of innocent blood demands a response. As followers of Christ, we cannot be silent in the face of overwhelming human rights violations, no matter what religion is being oppressed.
FRC has been on the front lines defending religious and free speech rights.
In December, FRC and other human rights advocates successfully urged Congress to enact the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. The new law places the burden on Big Business (like Nike and Apple) to prove that their goods produced in China do not involve forced labor. It's a good first step.
We've proven we can make a difference -- at local, national, and global levels -- by standing up for what's right.
Will you join with us and take a stand against China's lies and persecution of people? FRC needs your support to continue awakening the conscience of our nation.

We've seen the mainstream media, Big Business, and Big Tech all cozying up to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to curry favor and get their share of this increasingly lucrative market.
In countless examples, the International Olympic Committee, NBC Sports, and all of this year's Olympic sponsors looked the other way regarding the CCP's abuses.
From Google to Facebook to Apple, major tech firms abandoned their supposed human rights values to collaborate with the CCP regime -- potentially opening security risks for all of us.
Maybe they were listening to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The Democratic party leader told our nation's Olympic athletes: "You're there to compete. Do not risk incurring the anger of the Chinese government, because they are ruthless." So much for speaking truth to power!
We must stand up against all rising threats to religious freedom and free speech before it's too late. So please give your most generous gift to expand FRC's reach and impact for our shared values of faith, family, and freedom.
