As CA Governor Gavin Newsom eases mask mandates in the state, the legislature is ramping way up on vaccine mandates, including writing bills to mandate vaccines for all school children and workers and allowing 12-to-17-year-olds to get the vaccine without parental consent... Eight new bills in all. This is interesting to say the least, in light of the many court decisions over the past two years striking down vaccine mandates and the change in direction of national vaccine policy.
As you are probably aware, PJI has been instrumental in this fight against coerced/forced vaccine mandates and state governmental overreach including...
- The Ascension Health case, where our pressure on this health care provider’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate had a domino effect that resulted in thousands of jobs being saved,
- The Santa Clara pastors case where PJI won a Supreme Court victory, overturning a draconian county government policy, that opened churches all across this populous county in Silicon Valley, allowing people to gather together for the first time in over a year,
- Not to mention, the tens of thousands of individuals helped with our free COVID resources
But we go one big step further... Did you know that for over fifteen years, PJIs Center for Public Policy has worked closely with state legislatures and individual legislators across the US, counseling them on crafting constitutional bills upfront, so that these bills that become laws won’t have to be challenged in court later by PJI?
That’s a smart endeavor that saves effort, time, and taxpayers’ dollars. And often, bills are successfully amended within this process; that is, a flawed bill is drafted and submitted, but revisions are made on the bill (based on PJIs input) before it’s voted on. That means that the resulting law is constitutional, and fair based on Americans’ religious and parental rights.
