As we are continuing our celebration of Women’s History Month by honoring our amazing Democratic Women’s Caucus, we are also marking “Equal Pay Day” this year on March 15, 2022.

That date symbolizes how much into the new year women in America had to work, on average, to be paid as much as men were paid in 2021 because of the gender pay gap — on average.

That caveat is important, of course, because the disparity in earnings is even wider when comparing what Black, Latina, Native American, Southeast Asian, LGBTQ, immigrant, and disabled women earn compared to what white men earn — on average. 

With us for this very important discussion tomorrow evening, Small Business Committee Chair Nydia Velázquez, who is also a senior member of the Financial Services Committee. We will talk about her work uplifting women on the job, saving small businesses across America, and empowering women to access investment capital and to lead in their communities.
