Folks, in a moment, I am going to ask you to chip in $5 or whatever you can towards my re-election campaign. But first, I want to tell you a few things you may not know about me and share why I ran for office in the first place.

This may not come as a surprise as a Michigander, but I love cars. I still remember my first car like it was yesterday. It was a 1994 Cutlass Supreme and I remember that car fondly. It had 200,000 miles on it and I drove it everywhere.

My passion for cars carried me all the way to President Obama’s Auto Rescue Task Force, where I served as Chief of Staff. I learned a lot during that job. I saw firsthand how car manufacturing impacts so many people, and how important it is that we protect American manufacturing at all costs.

Recently, we’ve run into some bumps in the road – specifically with the chip shortage – but I can assure you I’m doing all that I can to address it in Congress.

I will always fight to protect the automotive industry, but I will need your support. Recent polling shows me neck and neck with my opponent, and I’m one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election.
