| | A note from our Executive Director, Vinita Goyal: |
| | In my eleventh week within my permanent role at SFTR, it has been truly gratifying to think strategically of SFTR’s priorities nested within the approaches for addressing systemic disparities. We believe these will ultimately rest on the successful triangulation of three outcomes: building political will, aligning community resources, and facilitating capacity and leadership development. |

| April is Membership Month! |
| | Join our community of riders and advocates working for the public transit San Francisco needs. A broad and growing membership means more clout at City Hall. It means a strong constituency that cares about affordable, efficient, accessible, and easy-to-use transit. It means your voice, and the voice of transit riders across the city, can be heard. |
| | We have a lot in the works for Membership Month, and we'll be sharing it all with you soon! But for now, we have one question: Why is being an SFTR member important to you? We'd love for you to share why you became and stay a member, or what about SFTR's work is most important to you. We'll share these stories throughout April on our social media feeds! |

| Transit Driver Appreciation Day is this Friday! |
| This Friday, March 18, is Transit Driver Appreciation Day! This annual holiday started out honoring the “Five Penny Coaches” bus line established in Paris in 1662, but now celebrates and uplifts public transit operators around the world. Be sure to thank your transit driver today, and all year long! You can also post thank you messages, photos or videos to social media with the tag #TransitOperatorAppreciationDay or #TDAD Becoming an SFTR member will help us continue to support our drivers. For example, when the pandemic struck SF, we were able to secure over 1,200 cloth masks for Muni operators thanks to generous donations from our members, and through partnering with our friends at TWU 250A. We also distributed several hundred disposable masks to riders who needed them. |

| Read the Streetsblog Q&A with SFTR's Executive Director |
| | SFTR's Executive Director Vinita Goyal was interviewed by Streetsblog SF about being appointed ED, her goals for SFTR, and more! Streetblog: A quick visit to the website has a link on the front that says “2022: Let’s Keep Winning.” I think our first question is, what does winning look like in 2022? When we look back in eleven and a half months, how will we know if 2022 was a year of winning? Goyal: "For 2022, we have sketched out four program campaigns: 1) making local and regional transit (and policy) sustainable; 2) working toward social and environmental justice; 3) advancing transit planning priorities; and 4) providing leadership opportunities for San Francisco’s youth. To deliver on these, we see an urgency to provide advocacy to address disparities within our transit system and remove barriers for access by empowering riders to speak up at the Board of Supervisors, SFMTA Board meetings, and community forums and help rebuild trust in our local and regional transit agencies." |

| In Major Win for Riders, Transportation Authority Board gives approval for new 2022 Sales Tax Expenditure Plan |
| | On Tuesday March 8th, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse the $2.6 billion Transportation 2022 Sales Tax Expenditure Plan. This new 30-year spending plan for the existing half-cent sales tax will help deliver safer, smoother streets, more reliable transit, continue paratransit services for seniors and persons with disabilities, reduce congestion, and improve air quality. San Francisco Transit Riders was an active member of the Expenditure Plan Advisory Committee, and after numerous consultations with our member-led Local Funding Working Group, is in strong support of the measure. |
