Team --

We wanted to let you know about a huge victory for our movement. The census is officially going to print -- without the controversial citizenship question that would have put an accurate count at risk!

The census was scheduled to go to print this week. But with the SCOTUS ruling striking down the pending citizenship question, the timeline became unclear, especially with President Trump tweeting in support of a delay. Putting the census timeline at risk would have been short-sighted, but then again, so was the administration's failed attempt to add a question that would scare immigrants away from being counted.

The census count impacts the redistricting of local, state and congressional seats -- determining political power for a decade. This news is a victory for equal representation in our democracy. A census count that accurately reflects our country's diverse population and properly records where they live means millions of dollars in funding will be better allocated and immigrant communities can receive the representation they deserve.

While we may have scored a big win yesterday with this news, we still have a lot to do. We need to make sure Congress and the Trump administration are fully funding the count. We have to make sure that local get out the count efforts have the resources they need. We need to build a movement to promote the census and help local outreach efforts. And the most effective way to reach hard-to-count communities is through good, old-fashioned community organizing.

The next decade of our nation's politics and progress is on the line and we need to be on the front lines. Can we count on you to donate to our All On The Line efforts to organize communities across the country?
