John, March is going to be one of the most important months for our campaign. Let me explain:
This month is the deadline for candidates to file their paperwork to run for office in Missouri. Two Republicans and three Democrats have already filed to run against Cori and more challengers are expected to announce later this month.
That's on top of the fact that the far-right and Republican super PACs are already making investments to flood our race with dark money — it’s clear that there’s an uphill battle ahead of us to keep Cori in office.
That’s why it’s so important that we submit strong fundraising numbers at the end of this financial quarter to send a loud and clear message about the strength of our grassroots movement. So we’re aiming to raise $25,000 by tomorrow at midnight to make sure we stay on track with our goals. Will you chip in $5 or anything you can right now to help make sure we keep Cori in Congress?
To be honest, Cori's re-election is about more than just Missouri's First District — it's about who holds power in Congress.
Conservative Democrats and the GOP have made it clear that they’re not happy with the anti-racist, progressive movement that Cori is leading in Congress.
Now, it’s critical we show the strength of our grassroots campaign and how many folks agree with Cori that it’s past time we end the cycle of police violence in our communities, pass Medicare for All, and create a new kind of politics that centers everyday people.
We know we have people power on our side, but there are serious challenges ahead of us to make sure we protect Cori’s seat. In 2020, shady corporate donors and super PACs spent tens of millions trying to defeat progressive members including Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib — and the GOP has already started making investments to unleash another wave of dark money in our upcoming election.
Together,
Morgan
Political Director, Team Cori
