Rick Scott, Republican Senator from Florida and the chairman of the
National Republican Senatorial Committee, recently released an “11 Point
Plan to Rescue America” and frankly, it’s an abomination.

This Republican manifesto combines all of the GOP’s worst reforms into one
plan to “save” our country. It calls for finishing Donald Trump’s border
wall, banning abortions nationwide, voter suppression efforts across the
country, increasing taxes on millions of Americans including seniors on a
fixed income, cutting key government programs, and even more than I care
to repeat.

The Republican Party’s descent into madness has reached a new low. Scott’s
30-page plan doesn’t tackle child poverty, support middle-class families,
or reduce inflation. Instead, it hikes up taxes for working Americans,
keeps tax breaks for the wealthy and large corporations whose patronage
Republican campaigns depend upon, guts government programs like food
assistance and unemployment benefits, and imposes policies straight out of
The Handmaid’s Tale like criminalizing abortions.

John, this is what our Democratic majorities are guarding
against. I won’t let Republicans win just so they can build a monument to
Trump’s vanity on our southern border, criminalize reproductive health
care, or take more money away from the working and middle-class families
that drive our economy. But I can’t fight them alone.
