When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘should just shut up,’ she was speaking for a lot of us. Their childish and self-promoting display during President Biden’s State of the Union was nothing new, but this time even GOP Senator Lindsey Graham agreed - he mouthed ‘oh, shut up’ at Boebert during the President’s speech.

The same can’t be said for Kevin McCarthy, who was called out directly by Democrat Eric Swalwell.

Trump loyalists who are devoted to the Big Lie are working to unravel our democracy. They have no respect for American values or our democratic electoral process. That’s why it’s so important we do all we can to prevent Kevin McCarthy from becoming Speaker of the House this time next year.

Here in Colorado, we have an opportunity to impact the ultimate outcome of the 2022 midterms. With a fractured Republican Party struggling to unite behind Lauren Boebert, and the new 8th Congressional District providing Democrats an opportunity to pick up a seat, what happens here could determine which party is the House majority. Progressive priorities like real climate action, universal health care, paid leave, and the Extended Child Tax Credit are dead in the water under Speaker McCarthy, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
