John,
Fantastic news from the Colombian elections yesterday: LGBTQ representation has TRIPLED in the Colombian Congress! We're so pleased to share that incumbent LGBTQ candidate Angélica Lozano won reelection and LGBTQ candidates Susana Boreal, Andrés Cancimance, Alejandro García, Carolina Giraldo and María del Mar Pizarro won their inaugural elections. As part of our partnership with Caribe Afirmativo, Victory Institute also trained 10 of candidates who ran, including Andrés Cancimance and Carolina Giraldo.
Our trainees are stepping up to run for office - and they're winning on Election Day. Make a donation today to ensure Victory Institute can keep training winning candidates in the U.S. and around the globe!
And the news gets even better: this year, 24 out LGBTQ people ran for office, an increase over past years. In addition to the trailblazers who ran this cycle, these successes also belongs to the grassroots activists and community leaders who worked tirelessly to support these candidates and promote LGBTQ acceptance in communities across the country.
Together with local partners and organizations, Victory Institute has trained over 150 out leaders in Colombia alone - and over 500 leaders outside of the United States. Despite threats, pressure from anti-equality governments and at risk to their own lives, these candidates are stepping up to run. We're honored to give them the tools and training to win - and we must keep going! Donate today to train more amazing global leaders to run for office and win!
